இடத்திற்குப் போகவேண் டிய கட்டாயம் ஏற்படுகிறது.

ஆபத்து இருக்கும் என்று தெரிந்த திமிங்கலம் ஜாக்கிரதை யாகக் குட்டியுடன் நீந்திப்போகிறது.
ஆனாலும் ‘கில்லர்
வேல்ஸ்’ என்ற வகை திமிங்கலங்கள் அதைப் பார்த்து விடுகின்றன. உடனே அதைச் சுற்றி வளைத்து
குட்டியைத் தனிமைப் படுத்தி தாயின் கண்ணெதிரிலேயே குட்டியைத் தின்கின்றன.
முதல்முறையாக நான்
’பெண் ஜென்மம் பரிதாபத்திற்குரியது தானோ’
என்று நினைத்தேன்.

happened to view a TV Programme on Whales.
The female whale gives birth to a calf and nourishes
it with its milk and rears it
with all the care and affection
in the world.

time comes when the mother whale is forced to migrate
in search of prey.
Aware of the fact that there would be
impending danger
en route the mother whale swims with its calf, with
utmost
caution.
Still,
the killer whales spot them. Surrounding the calf
they isolate it from its
mother and feed on it right in front
of the mother’s eyes.
For
the first time I felt that the life of a female is pitiable.
