என்னவென்று தெரியவில்லையே .... MY CONFUSION

புத்த மதத்தில் பல்வேறு பிரிவுகள் இருப்பது குழப்பமாக இருக்கிறது.

ஒரு மதம் என்பது Supernatural விஷயங்கள், அதாவது, கடவுள், 
ஆத்மா, மறுபிறவி போன்ற விஷயங்களைப் பற்றிப் பேசவில்லை 
என்றால் அது ஒரு மதம் என்று சொல்ல முடியுமா? 

அதை ஒரு வாழ்க்கை முறையாகத்தானே புரிந்துகொள்ள முடிகிறது?
அல்லது, ஒரு Philosophical concept என்று தான் சொல்லவேண்டும்.

எனக்கு Thich Nhat Hanh சொன்ன சில கருத்துகள் பிடித்திருக்கிறது.

முக்கியமாக, Mindfulness, Compassion and Inter-Connectivity.  

Inter-Connectivity என்பதை இன்று Quantum Theoryயும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்வதாக ஒரு கருத்து இருக்கிறது.

 எதையும் முழுமையாக ஏற்கவும் முடியவில்லை, தள்ளவும் முடியவில்லை.

MY CONFUSION

The fact that BUDDHISM has several sects proves 

confusing.

If a religion doesn’t speak about supernatural elements

 such as God, Soul, Life after Death and the like, can it be

 called a religion? It can be understood only as a way of

 Life, isn’t it so?

Or, we can call it a Philosophical Concept.

I like some of the thoughts advocated by THICH NHAT

 HANH.

Particularly, MINDFULNESS, COMPASSION and INTER-

CONNECTIVITY.

Today it is said that the Concept of Inter-Connectivity is 

part of QUANTUM THEORY.

I’m not able to accept it wholly; nor reject it entirely.

  

பெண் திமிங்கலம் சொல்லும் சேதி - FEMALE WHALE

திமிங்கலங்களைப் பற்றிய ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சியை தொலைக்காட்சியில் பார்த் தேன். 

ஒருவகையான பெண் திமிங்கலம் குட்டி போட்டு பாலூட்டி வளர்த்து வருகிறது. வாழ்வாதாரத்தைத் தேடி வேறு ஒரு இடத்திற்குப் போகவேண் டிய கட்டாயம் ஏற்படுகிறது.

வேறு இடத்தில் ஆபத்து இருக்கும் என்று தெரிந்த திமிங்கலம் ஜாக்கிரதை யாகக் குட்டியுடன் நீந்திப்போகிறது.

ஆனாலும் ‘கில்லர் வேல்ஸ்’ என்ற வகை திமிங்கலங்கள் அதைப் பார்த்து விடுகின்றன. உடனே அதைச் சுற்றி வளைத்து குட்டியைத் தனிமைப் படுத்தி தாயின் கண்ணெதிரிலேயே குட்டியைத் தின்கின்றன.

முதல்முறையாக நான் ’பெண் ஜென்மம் பரிதாபத்திற்குரியது தானோ’ 

 என்று நினைத்தேன்.

FEMALE WHALE 

I happened to view a TV Programme on Whales. 

The female whale gives birth to a calf and nourishes

it with its milk and rears it with all the care and affection

 in  the world.

A time comes when the mother whale is forced to migrate

 in search of prey.

 Aware of the fact that there would be impending danger

 en route the mother whale swims with its calf, with

 utmost caution.

Still, the killer whales spot them. Surrounding the calf 

they isolate it from its mother and feed on it right in front

 of the mother’s eyes.

For the first time I felt that the life of a female is pitiable.

ஹரே க்ருஷ்ணா…! - HARE KRISHNAA....!

க்ருஷ்ணாவதாரத்தின் தாத்பர்யம் என்னவாக இருக்கும் என்று எனக்குள் ஒரு    curiosity இருக்கிறது.

குழந்தைப் பருவத்திலிருந்தே க்ருஷ்ணர் மனித சமூகத்தின் சட்டதிட்டங்களை வேண்டுமென்றே உடைக்கிறார்.

குழந்தை வெண்ணெய் திருடுகிறது.

அவருக்கு கோபியர்களுடனான உறவு கேள்விக்குரியது.

மஹாபாரத யுத்தத்தில் அவருடைய பங்கேற்பு யுத்த தர்மத்தின்பாற்பட்டது என்று சொல்லமுடியாது. ஆனால், அவர் பகவத்கீதையில் மனிதர்கள்  தங்களு டைய தர்மங்களை முழுமையாகப் பின்பற்றவேண்டும் என்று உபதேசிக் கிறார்.

க்ருஷ்ணர் பரிபூரண தெய்வாம்சம் உடையவர். தான் தெய்வம், மனிதனல்ல என்பதை உணர்ந்திருந்தவர்….

 ஒருவேளை இப்படி இருக்குமோ…?

மனிதர்களின் சட்டதிட்டங்கள் அனைத்துமே அவர்களுடைய உடைமை    யுணர்வின் பாற்பட்டவை. ஆனால், ஒருவகையில் பார்த்தால், மனிதனுக்கு எதுவுமே சொந்தமானதல்ல. மனிதர்கள் சமூக அமைதிக்காக சட்டங்களை இயற்றியிருக்கிறார்கள். அவைகளைப் பின்பற்றுவதுதான் சமூகத்திற்கு நல்லது.  Traffic Regulations போல். அவற்றை மீறினால் விபத்துகள்       ஏற்படலாம். ஆனால், அதற்குமேல் அந்த விதிகளுக்கு ஒரு Sanctity கிடையாது.

இது தானோ….?

HARE KRISHNAA….

What is the underlying message of Krishnaavathaaraa? I am curious to know.

Right from childhood Lord Krishna has always been deliberately violating the rules and regulations governing human society.

The child steals butter.

Krishna’s relationship with Gopis is controversial.

In Kurukshetra battle his role is not totally in conformity with the laws of warfare.

Yet, in BhagavatGita he says that people should adhere to their moral and social laws.

Krishna is Divine in total.

He knows He is God; not human.

Can it be this?

All our laws are based on our sense of belonging. Actually, in the ultimate analysis man possesses nothing.

 Mankind has laid down rules for peace to prevail in the society. Man should follow these rules for the benefit of the society.

Like Traffic Regulations.

Violating them may result in accidents.

But, beyond that, there is no sanctity attached to these rules and regulations.

Is this the message….?

அந்த ஒரு புன்னகை - THOSE SUPERCILIOUS AIRS….

மாலைவேளைகளில் தொலைக்காட்சிச் செய்திகளையும் விவாதங்களையும் பார்ப்பது ஒரு வழக்கமாகிவிட்டது. 

விவாதத்தின்போது சிலர் தங்கள் முகத்தில் இளக்காரமான புன்னகையோடு அமர்ந்துகொண்டிருப்பார்கள்.

எனக்கு அதைப் பார்க்கும்போது தோன்றும் கேள்வி இதுதான்:

இவர்கள் உண்மையாகவே எதிராளியை மட்டமாக நினைக்கிறார்களா?

அல்லது

தங்களுடைய அறியாமையையும்,விவாதத்தை எதிர்கொள்ள முடியாத இயலா மையையும் மறைப்பதற்காக அந்த ஒரு புன்னகையைத் தங்கள் முகத்தில் படர விட்டுக்கொள்கிறார்களா?

                             THOSE SUPERCILIOUS AIRS….

It has become a habit for me to sit and watch TV News and Talk Shows daily.

In Talk-Shows , during debates I find some participants sporting a contemptuous smile on their faces.

Seeing that a question would invariably pop up in me.

Do they really feel contemptuous towards their opponents?

Or

Is it intended to conceal their inability to counter an argument?

பெற்றோர்களும் பிள்ளைகளும் - MOTHERS AND SONS

 கடந்த ஞாயிறு அன்று தொலைக்காட்சியில் ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சியைப் பார்த்தேன். அதில் திருமணமாகாத பெண்கள் ஒரு புறமும் மகன்களைப் பெற்ற தாய்மார்கள் மற்றொரு புறமும் விவாதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.

பெண்கள் அனைவருமே தனிக்குடித்தனமாக இருப்பதைத் தான் விரும்புவதாகத் தெரிவித்தார்கள். பிள்ளைகளின் தாய்மார்களோ பிள்ளைகளைப் பிரிந்திருப்பது என்பது மகத்தான சோகம் என்று கண்ணீர் விட்டு அழுதார்கள்.

எனக்குத் தெரிந்து நிறைய பெற்றோர்கள் பிள்ளைகளுடன் நல்லுறவு வேண்டும் என்றுதான் விரும்புகிறார்கள். ஆனால், கூடவே இருப்பதை அவர்கள் விரும்புவதில்லை.  

இதுதான் இன்றைய நிலை என்று எனக்குத் தோன்றுகிறது. 

                               

                                                  MOTHERS AND SONS

Recently, on a Sunday I saw a TV Programme.

 On one side there were unmarried women and on the other side the mothers of sons-to-be-married.

All the young women said that they preferred a nuclear family.

But, the mothers literally wept saying that being away from their sons would cause unbearable agony to them.

To my knowledge parents always prefer to have good relationship with their off-springs. But, they don’t like to live with them as a joint family.

 This is the present day scenario.

சுகப்பிரம்மம் எனக்குப் பிடித்த ரிஷி! - RISHI SUKHABRAMMAM

சுகப்பிரம்மம் எனக்குப் பிடித்த ரிஷி _ பல விஷயங்களிலும்.

பாகவதப் புராணத்தை கேட்பதற்கு ஆர்வமுள்ளவர்களுக்குச்  சொல்ல வேண்டும் என்ற தீவிரமான தேடல் அவருக்கு இருந்தது.

தனக்குத் தெரிந்ததை மற்றவர்களோடு பகிர்ந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் எனக்குப் பிடித்திருக்கிறது.  .

ஆனால், அவரை கிளி முகத்தோடு சித்தரிப்பது வருத்தமளிக்கிறது.

சுகப்பிரம்மம் என்ற பெயர் அவருக்கு எப்படி வந்திருக்கக் கூடும்?

’சுக’ என்றால் சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் கிளி என்று பொருள்

புராணக்கதைகளை எடுத்துரைக்கும்போது அவர், தான் சொல்லும் புராணங்களெல்லாம் ஏற்கனவே உள்ளவையே என்றும் சொந்தமாக தான் எதையும் சொல்லவில்லை என்றும் தெரிவித்தார்.

புராணத்தை உள்ளது உள்ளபடி கூறினார். கூட்டவில்லை; குறைக்கவில்லை.

இதன் காரணமாக அவருக்கு அந்தப் பெயர் வந்திருக்கலாம்.

                   RISHI SUKHABRAMMAM

Rishi Sukhabrammam is the saint I like most.

For he had an earnest and passionate thirst to narrate Bhagavatha Puraanam to those who were genuinely interested in listening to it.

I like this attitude of sharing one’s knowledge with others.

But, it makes me feel sad to see him being depicted always with a parrot face.

What could have been the reason for his getting the name Sukhabrahmam?

In Snaskrit ‘Sukha’ means parrot.

While narrating tales from Puraanaas he made it a point to declare that the Puraanic tales told by him had already been in existence and that he was not saying anything on his own.

He narrated Puraanaa as exactly as it was.

No more; No less.

This could have earned him the name Sukhabrahmam.
